Walk & Draw - Central Park

  • Central Park Community Sports Hub 16 Mayflower Drive Plymouth, England, PL2 3DG United Kingdom (map)

Introducing a series of Walk & Draw workshops, where we get and out and about and explore our wonderful environment through drawing.

We begin in Central Park, Plymouth, the largest park in the city and created in 1928 to benefit the health of city residents. With its central location, wide boulevards, open meadows, woodlands and views of the Plymouth Sound and into Cornwall - it provides a rich canvas for finding inspiration to draw.

The session will begin at the Central Park Community Sports Hub, where we will look at the work of other artists working historically and into the present, taking inspiration from different ways of looking and drawing.

We will then walk around the park, finding inspiration in the local landscape; looking and sketching details - whats underfoot, different textures and forms - to surveying the grander view, from the magnificent trees, to the landscaped gardens and horizon lines.

On return to the community hub, we will continue drawing, perhaps bringing back found objects to study further.

As this is an all-weather workshop please bring warm clothes, waterproofs and suitable shoes/boots. If the weather is too wet and wild we will stay in the community hub and draw natural forms/ found objects indoors.

Beginners and experienced artists are welcome - dRAWing Space was set up to open up creative possibilities for everyone. This is your chance to find your unique creative voice in a friendly and supportive environment!

You are welcome to bring your own materials. Recommend a small sketchbook (A5 / A4), charcoal, pencils, chalks or pastels, inks or watercolours,

This is a pay what you can afford session, with the suggested ticket price at £12.00 to cover room hire, artist time and materials.
