Walk & Draw - Sheeps Tor, Dartmoor

  • South West Lakes Trust Burrator Discovery Centre Yelverton, England, PL20 6PE United Kingdom (map)

A walk & draw workshop exploring the rich landscape surrounding Sheeps Tor on Dartmoor.

The session will begin at the Burrator Discovery Centre, where we will look at the work of other artists working historically and into the present, taking inspiration from different ways of looking and drawing.

We will then take a short walk exploring the surrounding Tors overlooking the reservoir, using all our senses to make sketches of the rock formations, including what is hidden and underfoot as well as sketching and noting the "epic" landscape of the moor.

On return to the Discovery Centre, we will continue drawing, either developing the sketches or bringing back found natural objects to study further.

Beginners and experienced artists are welcome - dRAWing Space was set up to open up creative possibilities for everyone and is about fostering a supportive creative community. This is your chance to find your unique creative voice in a friendly and supportive environment!

You are welcome to bring your own materials. essential items: sketchbook (A5 / A4), charcoal, pencils, chalks or pastels, inks or watercolours.

There are tea and coffee making facilities at the centre - please bring your own food / coffee / tea and drinks.

As this is an all-weather workshop please bring warm clothes, waterproofs and suitable shoes/boots. If the weather is too wet and wild we will stay in the marine centre and draw natural forms/ found objects indoors.
